The Great Ocean Road

Great_ocean_road2Second half of the Great Ocean Road today. Drove back past the 12 Apostles, through Port Campbell and onto The Arch, London Bridge, and then The Grotto. We nearly didn’t stop here, but I’m so glad we did....this was beautiful! Just lovely and certainly worth the effort. Peterborough was the next stop, just for lunch supplies, then onto The Bay of Islands and The Bay of Martyrs. It was lovely to stop here for lunch.

The end of The Great Ocean Road is Warrnambool. It was nice to drive into a large town again, especially when we had a few supplies to buy. We decided to stay the night here and so found a nice park by the beach....love it when we find a park that doesn’t charge for children up until they are 16 years old. Across the road is an greatoceanroad4awesome playground, set in a massive park. This The Family Parks   ...... Caravan Park. Cheaper again if you take the 2 year membership offer.

On Tuesday we drove down to Port Fairy for a look around. It was weird for us to see a Port or a marina that was not directly open to the sea/ocean. The Port is on the river instead. There are so many beautiful old buildings around town. I really loved looking at the stone buildings, they are just gorgeous. Port Fairy is one of the earliest established areas in Victoria. We enjoyed a lovely walk along the Port and over to the Island...Gibson Island. This Island is a nesting area for the Shearwater birds, aka, Muttonbirds.
