Jasmine's Menindee Lakes

Q1 What was your favourite thing to do?
We dug big holes in the sand by the lake at our camp.  Then we made flood waves for the water to come in.  The next morning the Lake was loosing its water so we had to dig more sand.  We were making our own swimming pool.

Q2 What was your favourite thing to see?
The Weir, because I have never seen a Weir before. It is like a dam and it keeps water in and then when they want to fill a lake up they open the Weir up and the water gushes through. There was a hole in the water beside the weir we called it a water whirly (it was a whirlpool) and that was cool.

Q3 What have you learnt from Menindee Lakes?
I have learnt what a Weir is and what it does.
I have learnt the difference between a shooting star and a sattelite. The sattelite moves really slow and shooting stars move really quick and they burn.

I learnt that all the water came from the floods in Queensland and northern New South Wales.  Last time we were here there was no water in Lake Menindee, only in the lake we camped on.

Q4 Tell me a story about Menindee Lakes?
We saw camels and they had cow bells on them.  They were wild we think. I saw my first Shingle Back (lizard)

Jasmine's Arkaroola

Q1 What was your favourite thing to do?
Do all the walking and drives.  We walked through the gorge (Barraranna Gorge) and I really liked seeing the rocks and the mountains.  I loved jumping from rock to rock.

Q2 What was your favourite thing to see?
The eagles, because I haven't seen them in 2 years! I saw them circling in the sky looking for prey.

Q3 What have you learnt from Arkaroola?
It is not a National Park, it's private property.  That is important because they look after the animals.
I didn't know that wallabies could jump around on the rocks. We saw the Yellow Footed Rock Wallabies at the waterhole and I didn't know they were endangered.

Q4 Tell me a story about what you did at Arkaroola?
I went for a walk with Aysha, Uncle Dave, Jemma and Jake. Uncle Dave was crushing up the rocks so we could look for dinosaur fossils.

Jasmine's William Creek

Eyre_16Q1 What was your favourite thing about William Creek?
Going to Jemma's Birthday party and having that yummy cake. I liked seeing all the things from the olden days like the crashed rockets, the aboriginal pole and the big tap, it was bigger than our tent

Q2 What did you enjoy seeing most?

All the cards and photos and hats and shirts on the wall of the pub.

Q3 What did you enjoy doing most?
Having dinner at the pub, I had fish and chips and they were yummy!
That it is the smallest town in Australia, it only had 2 people who lived there.

Q5 Tell me a story about what you did at William Creek
I was playing hide and seek and lying down flat on the pile of rocks and no one could find me they walked straight past me twice.  Then they found me and I almost broke my tooth while hiding because I had to move up the pile and I banged my mouth on the rocks!
