Katherine to Kakadu

Think back to the earliest memory you have, mine is of cliffs towering above me on both sides as we travelled down Katherine Gorge. I was 4 when my parents took me to Katherine Gorge and revisiting the same cruise has been incredible. We took the girls on a cruise at dawn and they were so excited, Jasmine showed us just how good she has become at photography (we'll post her photos but we are just waiting for the proper permissions from the National Parks).

Often memories revisted don't quite live up to your expectations, this was so much more, I also got to share it with my family.

You see so much about the Northern Territory however until you see it for yourself you can not appreciate how incredibly beautiful this part of Australia really is.

We are in Kakadu at the moment and enjoying a sit by the pool (love wireless), it is about 28 degrees, a long way from the rainy Canberra (so I was told this morning).

Exploring Kakadu is another must do. We are staying at Cooinda Lodge caravan park, with all the facilities of a resort available to the campers too, a great change. We took the girls for a walk at sunset last night along the Yellow Waters board walk, it was great except for the Air-o-guard resistant mozzies! The girls saw 3 crocs in the water and saw how good they are at swimming without making a ripple.

Jasmine saw lots of Magpie Geese that she had learnt about in the Aboriginal Cultural Centre that we visited, she saw how the Aboriginals caught them, seeing the actual birds in real life was such a bonus for her.

I was going to give you lots of photos however until the permits come through I can't use the images in the public domain (naughty Rachel leaving things to the last minute).

I'll leave you with a few things that the girls have seen that made them squeal with delight, and Jemma's recently acquired egg on the head (she makes a great sad face, you will also notice that the egg is on the other side to where she is holding the ice).

Mum made me promise to tell you about Jemma's tantrums (I think she likes the idea that I have to go through it all now), I will do so in my next post as my laptop is about to die. Stay tuned!!
