Sapphire Coast GEM!

BeachHave I told you how much I love my job!

Not only do I love bringing you our adventures, but we have just been shown the Sapphire Coast like I have never seen, even though we are regulars down here! And it's only the first day :)

What I loved the most about today was that Sam, from Sapphire Coast Tourism has created the greatest itinerary for us!  All I had to do was be on time - and for once in my life (well twice actually today) I was on time.  We have made the most of our day without being too busy to think, if you left it up to us we would have decided what we were doing about lunchtime and missed half the day!

We started the morning with a tour along the beach at Eden withWaratah Sharee and Jade from the Sapphire Coast Marine Discovery Centre. Sharee explained everything in the rock pools from the jelly fish, to shells to barnacles and all manner of sea creatures. Jasmine was enthralled and in her element, Jemma just loved using the net to catch seaweed and a few shells. It was so good for all ages, we really learnt so much.  Jasmine has learnt how to tell the difference between a boy and girl crab (she'll tell you in her journal soon), she learnt all about sea horses and they loved looking at everything under the microscopes too. Jem loved Matilda the octopus and took millions of photos of her swimming and playing in the tank, it was pretty mesmirising to watch.

I loved the waratah anemonies that were bright red and flower like in the water and felt like a big ball of jelly when they were out of water, very coolTed_shells!

After a quick lunch (and Teddy's quick nap in the car), it was out to Potaroo Palace Wildlife Sanctuary just out of Merimbula. We could have spent all day there, with pleanty of spots that woudl be great for a picnic lunch, oversized dominos, checkers and ring toss games mixed amongst the animal enclosures.

We learnt so much about the animals, especially the echidna's and Luna, the albino echidna.  Jasmine showed her true colours for me again today taking the challange to feed the Kookaburras in their enclosure. She fed them about 4 times before the nerves got the better of her. Again, she proved to me that she will at least have a go and step herself outside her comfort zone. I think the pic tells it all :)

My niece Theresa also got the chance to feed a Tawny Frogmouth, that is one Jas_Kookaabsolutely gorgeous bird!

We have truly learnt so much today and the chance to take the tours has paid off with the kids - Although, Jemma got sand in her shoes at Eden and was too scared to walk in them incase she stepped on an animal, and Jasmine learnt so much about Jellyfish she was too scared to pose in the water around them for Greg! Jas has been spouting info all day from her adventures, and you should ahve seen the girls both trying to tell Greg all about their time at Potaroo Palace (he was preparing for wedding things for tomorrow).  This is what it's all about!

We have a friends wedding tommorow but Jas and I are really looking forward to our trip to Wheelers Oyster Farm in the morning!!
