Wow, what a wonderful way to wake up! The mist creeping through the valley as the sun rose. All I had to do was open my eyes and enjoy the show from my bed – Remarkable. One of the best views to enjoy over breakfast. The shadows change the rocky mountain side every second, I could have sat there forever, but we had a huge day in front of us with Des as our Tour Guide.
Arriving in Sheffield, we knew all about the murals and were keen to get a closer look. We met Des Brown, a local resident and owner of the Eagles Nest Retreat, in the main street ready for our whirlwind tour around the province.
Isn’t it always when you haven’t booked a caravan park that you find those hidden gems. Crayfish Creek Caravan Park is certainly one of those gems we weren’t expecting. With very little camping and caravan parks it was great to find this one in our Camps book. Not knowing what to expect we rocked up and WHOA!
One place on our adventure Greg really wanted to visit was Woolnorth. At the tip of Tassie’s North West, Woolnorth is home to a massive cattle property and an impressive wind farm. Access is only available through Woolnorth Tours to this private property and really worth the time to visit.
Julius River Reserve is what it’s called, heart of the Tarkine Rainforest is where it is... AMAZING is the only word for this part of Tasmania. Not only did we find a great camp spot, it was free. Granted there was a long drop loo (as we call them, they are also known as composting toilets, pit toilets and plenty of other names) just down the road a little but when you have the whole place to yourself it is worth it.
